Bridge No. 109 Replacement (Hendricks Co., Indiana)

CLIENT: Hendricks County

Clark Dietz provided construction engineering services for the replacement of Bridge No. 109, carrying County Road 400 W over Ramp Run northeast of Danville. Constructed in 2026, the new 72-foot, three-span bridge features steel pipe pile foundations and a reinforced concrete slab deck. The project also included a wider bridge deck and approximately 500 feet of roadway reconstruction near County Road 200 N.

Construction required a full roadway closure. Clark Dietz coordinated with Hendricks County to support detour implementation and provided on-site oversight through Resident Project Representative and Project Engineer/Materials Supervisor roles.

An innovative construction method reduced work within Ramp Run. Threaded anchors cast into the bridge piers supported the temporary framework used during concrete deck construction, eliminating the need to place temporary supports in the stream. This approach minimized disturbance to the waterway and made removing the deck forms more efficient.

The project was delivered through the Indiana Department of Transportation’s Local Public Agency Program. Clark Dietz monitored compliance with INDOT requirements, identified materials that failed to meet project requirements, and worked with the contractor to address those issues. The team submitted the Final Construction Record within 45 days, supporting timely project closeout.
