Gratiot Ave M-3 over I-94 (Detroit, Michigan)
CLIENT: Michigan Department of Transportation-Central
Improvements to an urban corridor require careful coordination between the roadway, bridge, and surrounding traffic network. Clark Dietz provided engineering services for improvements to M-3 (Gratiot Avenue) and its bridge approaches over I-94 in Detroit.
Completed in 2019, the project included milling and resurfacing Gratiot Avenue and reconstructing the bridge approaches to improve the transition between the roadway and bridge. Additional work included replacement of existing traffic signals and freeway lighting beneath the bridge, along with drainage, non-freeway signing, and pavement marking improvements.
Clark Dietz provided complex roadway design, bridge design, bridge load rating, capacity and geometric studies, roadway lighting design, and construction assistance. Maintenance of traffic and work zone safety and mobility services supported planning for traffic movements throughout construction.
