York Road Bridge Reconstruction over I-88 Ramps (DuPage Co., Illinois)

CLIENT: Pinpoint Precision Engineering; project owned by Illinois Tollway

Clark Dietz is mentoring Pinpoint in Phase III construction engineering services for the reconstruction of the York Road bridge over the I-88 connector ramps to and from I-294. The project is part of a Reverse Mentor-Protégé Agreement and supports an important roadway connection between Oak Brook and Elmhurst, with access to both interstates.

The construction engineering scope includes on-site inspection of staged bridge demolition and construction. The replacement bridge incorporates a multiuse path and features semi-integral construction with vaulted abutments and mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) walls.

Beyond the bridge, improvements include permanent and temporary retaining walls, additional MSE walls, and full-depth widening and reconstruction of York Road and the I-88 ramps. Staged construction allows the work to proceed in phases while accommodating traffic through the project area.

Ongoing coordination with the Illinois Tollway, adjacent residents, the construction corridor manager, and the Village of Oak Brook supports construction activities and communication throughout the project. Through its mentoring role, Clark Dietz supports Pinpoint’s delivery of construction engineering services under Illinois Tollway Contract RR-24-4953.
