Incobrasa Plant Expansion, Gilman, IL

Nearly 30 years after supporting the design of Incobrasa Industries’ original soybean processing facility, Clark Dietz returned to Gilman, Illinois, to help deliver a major expansion designed to support the company’s continued growth.

Completed and fully operational in 2026, the expansion nearly doubled the facility’s soybean crushing capacity from approximately 43 million to 83 million bushels annually. Clark Dietz provided electrical, mechanical, civil, and structural engineering services, supporting the project from design through construction.

A significant component of the expansion involved upgrading the electrical infrastructure needed to accommodate increased production. Clark Dietz designed a new electrical distribution system and standby power systems and coordinated a new substation serving both the existing and expanded facilities. The improvements were designed to meet current production demands while providing flexibility for future growth.

Clark Dietz also provided electrical, civil, and structural engineering for a new 5-megawatt ground-mounted solar photovoltaic system spanning approximately 25 acres. Services included site design, stormwater management, structural foundations for electrical equipment, utility coordination, and construction-phase support. The installation is the first of four planned solar developments at the site.

Additional engineering services supported multiple facilities and utility structures throughout the plant, including electrical buildings, a water cistern, and a fire pump building. Working within a fast-paced design-build environment, Clark Dietz coordinated across disciplines and remained involved throughout construction to help bring the expanded facility into operation.

The completed expansion positions Incobrasa to process millions more bushels of soybeans annually while supporting Illinois agriculture, renewable energy production, and continued growth at its Gilman facility.
