Camp Atterbury Bridge Inspections

Clark Dietz performed biennial bridge inspections for three structures located within the Camp Atterbury Joint Maneuver Training Center in Edinburgh, Indiana. The structures included Bridge 00002 and Railroad Bridges RRB01 and RRB02, each with clear spans greater than 20 feet and meeting the National Bridge Inspection Standards definition of a bridge.

Field inspections were completed by an INDOT-certified bridge inspection team and included visual evaluations, hammer sounding and foundation probing where needed, documentation of previously identified areas of concern, and assessment of new deficiencies. Clark Dietz also developed a comprehensive photographic record of each structure, documenting bridge alignment, deck and superstructure components, substructure units, waterways, and observed defects. Individual inspection reports included condition ratings, executive summaries, location information, photographs, sketches, and maintenance recommendations in accordance with INDOT and FHWA inspection requirements.

All three bridges were determined to be in generally good condition with no major defects identified. Clark Dietz developed targeted maintenance recommendations to help address observed deterioration and extend the service life of the structures, including scour evaluation and protection, concrete repairs, pavement crack sealing, drainage and channel improvements, structural component repairs, and safety-related improvements. The team also prepared estimated repair costs to support future maintenance planning and prioritization.
