Reagan Memorial Tollway Rehabilitation: Washington Street to York Road (DuPage Co., Illinois)

Clark Dietz provided construction management and engineering services for the preservation and rehabilitation of more than 12 miles of the Reagan Memorial Tollway (I-88) between Washington Street and York Road. The project addressed pavement, bridges, roadside infrastructure, and transportation systems throughout the corridor.

Pavement improvements included accelerated concrete and precast pavement patching, shoulder resurfacing, and microsurfacing. Additional work included barrier wall construction at the Naperville Road ramps, guardrail improvements, and high-tension cable median upgrades.

Structural rehabilitation included joint and structural repairs at 13 bridges, along with a thin polymer bridge deck overlay on eastbound I-88 over 22nd Street. The project also included repairs to 14 retaining walls and eight noise walls, preserving infrastructure that supports and protects the tollway corridor.

Other improvements included drainage upgrades, LED lighting retrofits, mast arm replacements, pavement markings, and intelligent transportation system improvements at 31 locations.

Clark Dietz’s responsibilities included on-site inspection of construction activities and traffic control, review and processing of design revisions, and coordination with five adjacent contracts. Our team also provided comprehensive change management and contract administration, supporting the delivery of rehabilitation work across the corridor.
