Mr. Staron received a Lifetime Membership Award at the ASCE Illinois Section Annual Dinner Gala held October 13, 2016. This honor is awarded to ASCE members for their long-term service to the professional society. Mr. Staron began as a student member of ASCE and has been active ever since. In 1988 he was one of the founding members of the Illinois Section Transportation Group and served as its first Chair. Mr. Staron has also served the Illinois Section as Region 3 Governor, President, Secretary, Director, and Washington Awards representative.

Mr. Staron is a Senior Vice President and Transportation Market Director for Clark Dietz, Inc., a consulting engineering firm with offices in Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin. He joined Clark Dietz in 2005 to direct strategic planning, marketing, and sales activities for the firm’s transportation consulting services and to provide leadership for planning, design, and construction observation for highway, bridge, and transit improvements.

Allen earned a BSCE degree in 1974 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-­Champaign and a MBA degree from DePaul University in 1981. Over his career he has worked for both regional and international engineering firms always focusing on transportation improvements. Mr. Staron has been a leader in the implementation of Context Sensitive Solutions for transportation improvements and is engaged in developing sustainable highway infrastructure.

Since 2004 he has served on the Board of Directors for the UIUC Civil and Environmental Engineering Alumni Association and just completed his term as President. His other professional activities include work on multiple American Council of Engineering Companies of Illinois committees.
