Western Terrace Neighborhood Water Line Replacement
Evansville, IN
The Western Terrace subdivision was platted and developed in the 1950’s and 60’s on the west side of Evansville, just north of Middle Mount Vernon Road. This residential subdivision was served by 2, 4 and 6-inch water mains throughout. As part of its early efforts to replace undersized and outdated water mains, the Evansville Water and Sewer Utility selected Clark Dietz for the second and final phase of this water main replacement project. The first phase replaced the mains along the primary roads within the subdivision as well as made a second connection to a larger transmission main to boost pressure and flow. The second phase focused on replacement of the remainder of system within the subdivision.
The project includes replacement of all smaller mains with 8-inch C-900 PVC lines, mechanical joint fittings and valves, and all new fire hydrants and service lines to over 150 customer meters. As with most projects of this nature, the challenge lies in the construction and coordination of new lines and changeover of customers with minimal interruption in domestic service and fire protection.
The project length is just under 6,000 feet and has a total project value of approximately $1.8 million.
