As Clark Dietz’s Northern Illinois Construction Team Leader, Al Lapinskas, PE brings over ten years of construction engineering experience. Al graduated from Iowa State University gained experience interning with the Illinois Department of Transportation. Upon graduating and gaining full-time employment, Al worked on high profile projects for IDOT, the Illinois Tollway, and the Chicago Transit Authority. His employment and infrastructure construction experience was broadened by his involvement in many complex railroad projects for Norfolk Southern and BNSF. Al’s employment opportunities prior to joining Clark Dietz included WSP and HDR where he served as a construction engineer, documentation engineer, and senior project engineer.

Upon joining Clark Dietz, Al served as the Resident Engineer for three major Illinois Tollway contracts on I-294. The projects were all constructed concurrently withing two and a half years and totaled over $70 million in value. The projects were located on I-294 between I-55 and Ogden Ave and included advanced sanitary sewer relocations, moment slab, and noise wall construction, followed by replacing the I-55 flyover bridge to northbound I-294 and Plainfield Road bridge.

As a licensed engineer in Illinois, Al has worked with many different engineers, designers, contractors, and clients. His core strengths while serving on any Clark Dietz project include his efficiency and collaborative team mentality.
