As the former Director of Engineering for the Kenosha Water Utility, Bob brings experience in every aspect of water and wastewater operations, having managed more than $100 million of major sewer and water capital improvement projects. Bob is highly respected for his forward- thinking approach, and well-known for his integral role in building what is considered one of the most progressive water utilities in the region. He is always thinking forward, focused on ensuring sustainable operations by employing leading edge technologies and continuously improving operational reliability and efficiency. Mr. Carlson was an integral part of a team that pioneered the world’s largest water plant microfiltration system, and implemented one of the first GIS systems in Wisconsin for municipal use.
Mr. Carlson strives for the highest water quality, produced in the most efficient way possible. He has achieved this by building measurable, repeatable, and manageable infrastructure and operations that improve dependability, reduce systems vulnerabilities, and eliminate redundancies. His experience encompasses water/wastewater treatment plant facility design and construction, energy optimization, emergency power, and commissioning of equipment and SCADA systems. He has received over $800,000 in Focus on Energy funding for variable speed pumps and energy optimization projects at the WWTP. Known as the “go to guy” at all levels of operations, Mr. Carlson was especially trusted for his practical and responsive approach to mitigating emergency sewer flows, water outages, and equipment failures.
